Bond too High?

The Judge takes a number of factors into account when setting bonds. Some of those factors include employment, ties to the community, ability to pay and whether or not the Defendant failed to appear or fled in the past.

The most important factor should simply be ensuring the Defendant's presence at trial. Generally, the more serious the crime the higher the bond. However, bail is not intended to be used as punishment before trial.

Generally all cases are given some sort of bail even those where the Defendant has been accused of such crimes as murder.

However we have seen drug possession cases where bonds are set as high as two hundred thousand.

Even if you think you cannot afford to get someone out on a lower bail or that the Judge would not let them out because of what they are accused of call our office. We have negotiated a number of releases even with serious felonies pending.

If you need help in getting bail for a loved one lowered, we may be able to help. Call our office for a free consultation about hiring us to petition the court for a bail reduction.
